 ROIer Aaron Sztarkman recently received an ROI Grant for the donation of books to the Instituto Estado de Israel in Jerusalén, La Paz, El Salvador. The first shipment of books was donated this week in El Salvador.
Next month Sztarkman will visit the school again, bearing more books, this time with topics about science, physics, algebra, etc.
Sztarkman reports that the ceremony was very special and touching. "These people are really thankful every time you visit them. The director of the school thanked us in front of all the students, then I said some words explaining what ROI was and how ROI made that donation possible. After that, some students staged a poem and a folk dance. The ceremony was closed with a meal (pupusas, the most Salvadoran dish) for all the students and the visitors. Along with me came our Rabbi and part of the Board."
Sztarkman had a meeting with the teachers and the director of the school to determine the school's most immediate needs; the school provided a list of those needs that will help determine which new project they can start in the short term.
